General Discussion / Sgt Leonard Scott, RASigs
« on: 29 November, 2024, 05:51:46 AM »
G’day all!
I was recently asked by a local historian if I knew a “Sgt Leonard Scott” RASigs, who's listed as having served in Malaya from 1964 thru 1965. As, this was just before my time, I couldn’t help. Although I can’t ever recall hearing his name before. Does he ring any “208 bells” for anybody? Mind you, he could have been on 28 Bde HQ, or the 3RAR RASigs Det. Or, he could have been at 111 LAA Battery Det up at Butterworth. So, over to you, folks – any information is greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Ken.

I certainly remember the weather. As it happens, this month (21st) marked the 53rd anniversary of the last battle we fought there. How things have changed, eh?

Morning, MR
Don't recall ever seeing a copy of the song on the original page. So it would a be a No, from me.

Greetings from Townsville in Far North Queensland(FNQ)
Interesting that 'Bob.doe' asks after the Shades of Blue and their recording of "In The Midnight Hour".
Knowing of this 56/57 year-old recording suggests he may have a connection to the band. Or, esoteric tastes...
Otherwise why pose the question?
More information required 'Bob.doe'...

Didn't realise Lee and Margot were ill. Hope they both come good. Hearing you on the social media thing - this site is still a mite unstable for my MacBook. FB is okay, I've been using it for years now. Hope all's well in the 'Nam.

It seems to be very, very, quiet out there in message board land. I thought the Queen's passing, her magnificent funeral and associated changes to the monarchy would have generated a myriad of discussion... Here's my 20 cents worth: I believe Australia will be a Republic by 2030...

G'Day MR, I'm doing okay. Hope all's well in 'Nam. Covid seems to have stayed away from me - fingers crossed! Winter cases are on the rise here in Victoria. Hospitals are beginning to postpone elective surgery to free-up beds for possible covid influx. Also talk of a fourth covid booster to combat possible new strain. Meanwhile a Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak in Indonesia has folks very worried here.

The Platinum Jubilee was all over the TV here. Liz will be an impossible act to follow. Chuck's a different kettle of fish altogether, so it will be interesting to see how he handles the family business. Maybe he'll handball the job to William and Kate after a year or three. I suspect Andrew will remain an unwelcome distraction, especially if news reports out of the US are correct. I'll be very surprised if Australia isn't a Republic inside 10 years...

There's a rule of thumb in real estate - if your place has shot up in value - the once cheaper alternatives ain't so cheap anymore either... Price of houses and apartments suburban Melbourne have sky-rocketed - median is around $1 million now. Homes in country areas, once a much cheaper alternative, have risen exponentially as budget-minded buyers have been forced to 'look out of town' for somewhere more affordable.

Mr. and Mrs. Public have more chance of getting back into Oz from overseas, than trying to get into Queensland or Western Australia from New South Wales or Victoria. Double-vaxed and Covid free tests make no difference. If you come from Vic or NSW, forget it  ;)

Reckon the the French are more than happy to see them become the UK's problem, Pam. Guess reason the immigrants don't want to stay in France is because the social welfare system there isn't as generous as yours... If Boris was serious he'd turn the boats back towards France. Or Africa maybe...  :)

General Discussion / Guest Book Issues?
« on: 16 September, 2021, 10:36:19 PM »
For some reason I can't access the guest book from either my PC or Mac. When I try I get:
"...Hmmm… can't reach this page208-signal-sqn.123guestbook.com refused to connect."
Does anybody else have the same problem?

Looks like we're the only two on here, Pam.
Well, September's reunion is screwed now, too. Widening outbreak of Delta in NSW and here is bad news for potential travel. Understand that Canberra is also under lockdown. is the UK still allowing international flights in?
