They came from Scotland, Chester, NE England, SW England, Yorkshire and Australia.
The day started for some with a leisurely tour of Chester via the old wall, followed by a canal cruise - a highlight of which was encountering some "weekend sailors" who'd managed to sail their barge backwards into the lock and were trying to turn the monster around, despite the barge being longer than the width of the canal! Everyone congregated at the United Services Club that evening and enjoyed lots of relaxed fellowship.
Thanks to our 'sponsor' Eric 'Taff' Thompson for sending very welcome support funds, and special thanks to Eddie & Pauline Roberts and gang for liaising with the club to arrange the evening, as well as preparing a superb buffet of sandwiches, pork pies and other delicacies - the standout being Pauline's freshly baked cream and strawberry profiteroles, which vanished in very quick time!
